Balanced Skin Treatments: Skincare
For those of you with balanced skin, choosing the right skincare products is the key to keeping your skin healthy. Make sure that you’re using water-based facial cleansers and moisturizers instead of oil-based products. Water-based products are lighter and will keep your skin supple without adding too much oil. Always wash with warm water instead of hot to avoid stripping your skin and causing dryness.
When choosing a moisturizer, make sure you’re buying one with an SPF of at least 15 to provide adequate sun protection and keep wrinkles and skin cancer at bay. Moisturize daily to keep the oil glands in your skin functioning at a healthy level and this will keep them from going into overdrive to moisturize your skin by producing more oil.
Balanced Skin Treatments: Cosmetics
Choosing makeup products that won’t clog your pores or cause excess dryness is one of the most important steps to maintaining balanced skin. Look for products that contain good-for-skin ingredients like aloe, Vitamins E & C, titanium oxide and zinc oxide. Aloe and Vitamins C & E protect skin from free radical damage and help maintain moisture. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are natural sunscreens and zinc helps heal skin wounds as well.
Avoid products that contain alcohol because alcohol strips moisture from the skin and can lead to a skin imbalance. Also avoid any products containing bismuth oxychloride, which is a compound made from copper, lead, and chlorine byproducts and is used to give some brands of foundation, blush, and eyeshadow their pearlescent look. Bismuth oxychloride can cause your skin to itch and can also clog pores and cause blemishes. Maintaining your balanced skin can be easy just be sure to use the right skincare products and cosmetics and you shouldn’t have any worries!
