Here are some qualities and ingredients to look for when choosing an eye cream:

Look for a Multi-tasker

Many eye creams will stake their name on being the cure for specific eye problem. Whether it’s dark circles, puffiness, or wrinkles, some eye creams will only address one of these problems and either ignore or only superficially treat the others. In today’s world of advanced beauty however, you should be able to find one cream to treat all three of these major eye problems.

Spending money on different creams for each problem not only wastes money but it wastes time since each cream must be applied separately. Also, using several creams makes it harder for you to distinguish which is the culprit if you end up having an allergic reaction to one of the products. Using several different products on the sensitive eye area is also potentially dangerous since the ingredients in these different products may react with one another and cause irritation or other health concerns. Your goal should be to find one cream that you can use to treat all of your major eye concerns to decrease cost, save time, and decrease the chance of negative product interactions.

Marshmallow Extract

Marshmallow extract is the new “it” ingredient in skin care, but it’s been used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine for centuries. The Chinese use it in skin preparations because it is an incredible anti-inflammatory and stops the skin from peeling and flaking. It is also used to treat varicose veins and helps the body flush out toxins. Obviously, with all of these naturally great for your skin benefits, marshmallow extract is one key ingredient to look for in eye treatments.

Intense Natural Moisturizers

One important step in caring for the delicate skin surrounding the eye is to keep it incredibly well moisturized. Keeping the undereye moisturized is important because this will help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and help prevent new wrinkles from forming. Moisturization will also keep the eye area from becoming scaly or discolored in appearance.

Look for eye creams which contain intensive natural moisturizes like jojoba oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and aloe vera. These moisturizers are non-comedogenic, meaning they won’t clog your pores, and are easily absorbed by the skin. Since they are not synthetic they are less likely than many chemical moisturizers to irritate your skin or cause allergic reactions.

Tinted coverage or natural light reflectors

One last thing to look for on your eye treatment quest is a cream which contains either natural light reflectors or offers tinted coverage. Some undereye creams now offer the tinted coverage of a concealer in addition to the skin care benefits of a traditional eye treatment. This is great because it means you can use fewer products to achieve a well-rested look can get all the advantages that eye treatments without a concealer offer. This again will save you money and time during your beauty routine.

Natural light reflectors work to reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes by reflecting light away from the undereye area, making dark circles less noticeable and making the whole undereye area brighter. Just be sure the light reflectors are natural, since synthetic chemical light reflectors can irritate the eye and cause other problems as well.
