Spring 2010 Beauty Looks
New York Fashion Week is over, which means we can now say what the makeup trends for Spring 2010 will be, and here they are:
Trend One: Red lips
Many models marched down the runway sporting fire-engine red lips. A red lip is a great way to make a beauty statement in a timeless way, and is easier than you might think to pull off.
The key to a red lip is selecting the right shade of red for your skin tone. Women with warm golden undertones should wear orange-based reds, while those with blue, pink, or other cool undertones should wear blue-based reds.
Always use a lip liner that either matches the lipstick shade you’re wearing or is one shade lighter to avoid that unnatural ring around your lips. Remember that your red lips are going to draw a lot of attention, so go for a very simple neutral or nude eye to avoid looking overly made-up.
Trend Two: Sunset Eyes

Another runway trend was sunset-inspired eye looks. Eyes painted shades of warm gold, rich pinks, and intense mauves lend a natural luster to almost every eye color.
To copy this trend, look for colors that make you think of the sun setting over a lagoon and the warmth of Caribbean islands. These golds, pinks, and mauves should be rich and warm, not icy or cool.
Apply a light shimmery gold onto your brow bone, and then use a deeper rich golden shade on your lid. Enhance your eyelid crease and make the eye smoky with a deep mauve for night or a lighter rich pink for day. Line with chocolate pencil, and smudge this to give a sexy look.
Trend Three: Loose Waves
Hair wise, loose, touchable waves were all the rage. This look is all about looking lightly-tousled and seeing perfection in healthy, swinging disheveled hair.
To achieve this look, use a salt-water infused spray to add natural waves and body to damp hair. Hang your head upside down and dry hair with a diffuser while scrunching to enhance natural waves.
If you like you can go in with a curling iron once hair is dry to further define a few pieces, but remember you don’t want ringlets or anything which looks too stylized or overly primped.
